The Story About Us

The Story of the Hummingbird

One day a terrible fire broke out in the forest – huge woodlands were suddenly engulfed by a raging wildfire. Frightened, all the animals fled their homes and ran out of the forest. As they came to the edge of a stream they stopped to watch the fire feeling very discouraged and powerless. They all sat crying and bemoaning the destruction of their homes – all except one little hummingbird.

It swooped into the stream and picked up a few drops of water and went back to the forest and dropped them on the fire. It did this again, and kept going back, again and again, and again. All the other animals watched in disbelief; some tried to discourage the hummingbird with comments like, “Don’t bother, it is too much, you are too little, your wings will burn, your beak is too tiny, it’s only a drop, you can’t put out this fire.”

Finally one of the animals shouted out to the hummingbird in a mocking voice, “What do you think you are doing?”

The hummingbird, without wasting time or losing a beat said:

“I am doing what I can.”

The Starfish Story

One day a man was walking along the beach at low tide when he noticed a boy throwing stranded starfish back into the ocean.

The man watched for a while and finally said:

“That won’t make any difference you know”

Without stopping the boy pointed to the water and said:

“It made a difference to that one.”

Who Are We?

We are just drops of water on a forest fire. We are just throwing starfish back in the water.

We are doing what we can:

Two retired people who are lousy at golf (at least I am), love animals, and want to do something that has meaning.

Further.. We believe:

People do not own this planet.
People are killing this planet.
We believe we can stop the problem if we really want to.

Every single generation of humanity that has been on this planet has left it worse off than they found it.

We believe we can change that.

Modern society has come to terms with climate change, pollution and the destruction of our environment not by facing the problems and solving them but by doing what we have to do to live with it. This is the easiest possible solution. And like every bureaucrat on earth people want the same thing: something that asks nothing from them tomorrow.

Further.. We believe:

The Greatness of a Nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

– Mahatma Ghandi

Further.. We believe:

The majority of people on earth are extinctionists.

An individual or group that paradoxically by ego or ignorance emotionally defends the welfare of a single animal within their immediate realm while ignoring or contributing to the death and extinction of every animal on earth.

Extinctionists do not care about animals or the environment. They are easy to recognise. They use the same 8 politically correct words to describe about a subject they really don’t want to talk about and are completely ignorant of: the destruction of our planet.

Anyone who says:

they should be left in the wild” either doesn’t understand the problem or doesn’t care
.

This is the “3 martini opinion”. These are Trolls in the worst sense. They complain but do nothing to help. They are negative, not positive. Their opinions aren’t worth the cardboard they use for their protest signs. Every generation of human is leaving this place a little worse off for the next generation.

The government strategy is to do everything possible to increase the degree of separation between people and the environment and animals so we cannot relate to the modern extinction during the Anthropocene.

The Titanic is heading towards an iceberg while the government warms up your tea. When the water is around your ankles they build a wall around your feet.

Animals are going extinct. There is no wild left. Any animal left in the wild without our help will die.

It is simple math.  1 + 1 = 0

The world needs just two things to change if we want to save this planet. Fewer people and more conservation.

-That’s who we are.
